History in the making when Amtrak P-141 rolled unassisted for the first time on Florida East Coast rails, straight through with no stops from the Jacksonville Amtrak Terminal to the Miami Amtrak Terminal, via the Hialeah Yard down to Oleander where FEC meets with CSX. It will make a return run north leaving from down town Miami early Saturday morning with stops at selected cities along the way. This demonstration train was established to show FEC/RA and Amtrak executives and dignitaries the possibilities of Amtrak bringing back passenger service to FEC rails. |
